You might have noticed that I have started using the term RELEGATION concerning St. Brendan Church. The term is canonical and is being used because we have completed the Consultation Process and I was offered the opportunity to present our situation to the Cardinal and Presbyteral Council on Thursday, March 3rd. The months of building studies, repair estimates, financial struggles, conversations – all of it – has been presented to the Cardinal for his consideration and decision. No timeframe was given for his response or any possible questions. Relegation, in short, means that due to the many grave conditions that we have discussed and observed with respect to St. Brendan Church it is no longer possible to continue to use it.
Given the uncertainty of when a decision will be made and the inability to fund the necessary $1,600,000 in necessary repairs at St. Brendan Church needed within the next 18 months, I will be holding firm to the end of all services at St. Brendan Church effective May 31, 2022. Prior to that date I will be meeting with the Parish Finance Committee and calling for another meeting with the Parish Council.
Mass times will remain the same and all liturgies (funerals, baptisms and weddings), existing Mass Intentions and any future Mass intentions as of June 1, 2022, will be at St. Ann Church.
Be assured of my prayers and please pray for me!
